Kyokushinkan 1st World
Open
BKH resident, Jarrett McIntyre, warming up for his first ever tournament fight with Oz Pariser of Connecticut.
And the fight begins . . .
Six of us traveled togethr from the US via New York City.
Three uchi deshi (personal students) of Mas Oyama.
Oz bought that rediculous hat as a souvenir in Red Square. That's Lenin's tomb in the background.
BKH Director, Nathan Ligo, translates Kancho's speech into English for 12,000 spectators.
The fighters of each of 37 countries were led two and from the mat during the opening ceromony by one of these young Russian ladies with a sign displaying the name of country from which the fighters came. This one reads "United States of America," which was represented by Jarrett (from BKH) and Oz (from Connecticut). Kyokushinkan will hold another world tournament in 3 years time and we hope that next time we'll bring a full 12 person delegation. (Kyokushin-kan is still so young in the US that we were proud to have brought 2.)
This seminar was held for two days following the tournament. BKH resident, Jarrett McIntyre, and BKH Director, Nathan Ligo, attended.
