Victories for Budo Karate House Fighters
This set of photographs marks a tragic loss for Budo Karate House because it was long-time resident, RS's, last competition before he finally threw in the towel and ran away in the night after completing nearly 700 days of the 1000 required for graduation. You can take a horse to water, but you can't make him drink! RS was so close!! See Documentary movie freaturing RS (Stick it Out) on our video clip page for an understanding of what might have been going on with RS and why he finally threw in the towel. In this case, at this fight, he was done phychologically but hadn't yet figured out how to actually quit. The result was an amazing fight in which he blocked all his opponents punches with his face (no effort to block) and completely crushed his opponent anyway. If there's one thing that can be said about BKH training of its residential students, it's that it makes them really, really tough. Natural talent can't be magically conjured, and RS didn't have much, but he sure got tough in a remarkably short period of time. Paul Kaminski (bottom three photos) won his fight this night too. RS's departure was a promotion for Kaminski. He is now the dormitory's senior student, testing for his shodan (black belt) this May in Capetown, South Africa.
