Wins at Rochester Tournament October 9th 2010

Ligo Dojo won more trophies at this tournament in Rochester, NY than any other dojo, but we didn't take the first places, except in the seniors' division, and in a couple of the kids' divisions. The rest were 2nd's, 3rd's and 4th's. There aren't a lot of photos here, but we'll let the newspaper article and the video clips do the talking. "It aint too pretty yet, developing Kyokushin Karate in America, but you have to start somewhere and these kids (and adults) are showing the kind of heart that will take us places!"

Oh, by the way, the couple other photos are from Niagara Falls. They're 90 minutes from Rochester and we stopped in on the way home. The video clips are at the bottom of the page.

One of the hard parts of these tournaments is each competitor's long wait for their turn to fight. The younger Ligo Dojo kids were getting too rowdy, and we had them stretch out like this for a few minutes of "quiet time." It turns out being something like meditation and they all got up 20 minutes later determined to win . . . and many of them did.
