We have been fighting through some important changes at the dojo (see below**), and although our sheer numbers are increased (participation and total enrollment) our tournament preparedness was less this season than it's been in the past, and we only took 17 people. Yet we WON quite a few awards anyway. Pay specific attention to the video clips at the bottom of the page to see the intensity of Kyokushin tournament competition. You'll note that men, women and children participate safely and eagerly, and all come home having dramatically broadened their horizons in terms of what it's all about. (NOT fighting of course, or even competing! Karate is about understanding and challenging one's personal limitations. And what better opportunity that the karate tournament!) We have another tounament in Hilton, NY just two weeks after this one, and it is our hope that some of the same students will participate in both because there's no better chance for advancement that trying one to understand it better, and then coming back to apply that understanding soon after the first one. **(Important changes in the Dojo: Ligo Dojo is a young dojo in which our senior students did not have senior students of their own when they were white belts. We're a little bit behind, therefore, in terms of our senior students grasping exactly what their role is in the Budo Karate dojo. Yet, I am VERY pleased to say that we are making GREAT progress along these lines just in the past couple weeks, and we will emerge a far more powerful organization, and a far more powerful family unit. Special thanks to our assistant instructors Amy, Erin, Woodrena and Daniel for their hard work, and for their sacrifices, in the process of making these changes a relaity! Other brown belts Aurelio, Rodrigo, Douglass, Steve, Greg, Mervin, Montreal, Christian, Erie, JQ . . . who esle? keep up the fight! We're not out of the water quite yet! Osu!) Please enjoy the photos video below!
